The price of standing with human rights
We are very proud of the new path we have embarked on with the Afghanistan Human Rights and Democracy Organization, an organization that has been working in the field of transitional justice for more than 15 years.
For two weeks, Afghan Activists, currently refugees in Europe and victims of the dictatorial, discriminatory and violent condition of the Taliban regime were in Monte Sole in the first “MEMORIALISATION IN EXILE” workshop to share their stories of commitment and sacrifice, through the methodology of body mapping.
Empowering Memory, Honoring Victims.
Afghanistan Memory Home
I am a human being.
I am a war victim.
These words resonated in Monte Sole like a secular oration.
They tell of huge, deep and persistent sorrows, those deaf pains that resurface when you least expect it.
And yet.
Yet they also tell of hope, of the desire and need to continue on the path of activism in the pursuit of justice and the promotion of human rights.
The Afghanistan we have been told is a country at war for more than 50 years, but it is also a beautiful, rich and complex country.
Thank you to AHRDO Afghanistan and Afghanistan Memory Home for letting us meet such special people.
Thank you to Sophia M. Bijleveld for believing in the silence of Monte Sole.
Thanks to Xavier Verhoest, new friend and colleague, for gently and respectfully guiding the sharing of experiences.
Thanks to Gian Luca Luccarini, Maria Iubini and the Monte Sole Family Association for always accompanying us on our journey of growth.
Thanks to il Poggiolo Rifugio Resistente for sharing work and satisfactions.
