To build peace one cannot limit oneself to transmitting alternative values, perhaps high and beautiful, but accepted and “suffered” by the recipients of the educational process, within an asymmetrical relationship and power. To educate freely about freedom of thought, solidarity and peace carries within itself the irremediable contradiction that to do so one must leave freedom; one must not transmit the value of freedom and peace, but patiently build together a common history that feeds on the memory of the past and the transformative drive towards the future.
Your interactive, anti-dogmatic, difficult, Socratic proposal, in short, lives up to this challenge. It knows how to use the memory of violence, racism and injustice that were, not to remove the potential horror that lies within each of us today and to build intellectual and human antibodies against the current forms of social stigmatization, discrimination, dehumanization of the “enemy”; until its destruction.
